Team Recon To Return To Malawi In 2025

Five of the team from UK based dating site Recon.com will be taking part in Mission Malawi 2025, a gruelling 400km cycle and trek across Malawi to raise much needed money for the Great Minds Bright Futures charity.
Sam Swindell, Antoin Strachan, Sebastian Witte, Chris Schumann and Philip Hamill will be travelling to Blantyre, Malawi in May 2025 to begin the tough challenge of cycling, hiking and kayaking over 400km across this amazing country.
Malawi is known as the Warm Heart of Africa due to the welcoming nature of the people, but is currently one of the world's poorest countries devastated by HIV and AIDS, with over 2 million orphans throughout the nation.
Recon owner Philip Hamill spoke about why Recon is returning to Africa in 2025. "It has been 15 years since we last took part in the bike ride across this beautiful county, and I'm still affected by the memory of that 2010 trip and the amazing people that we met. Visiting the charitable projects left such a profound impact on me, and meeting the children and the communities showed just why we need to support such a worthwhile cause. It really was one of the best experiences of my life. We are so excited to be once again participating in Mission Malawi, and we really need your help to support the future of these vulnerable children."
Throughout the trip, the challenge takes the team across Mount Mulanje, through the Liwonde National Park, Cape Maclear and Salima. The team will also be visiting Great Minds projects in Zomba, Mangochi and Dowa - meeting the children, families and communities affected by HIV/AIDS.
At the end of the cycling, hiking and kayaking challenges, the team will spend the last 3 to 4 days in Dowa, at the Great Minds Bright Futures Orphan Daycare Village. There, they will take time getting to know the children – playing games, learning new skills, and gaining a deeper understanding of their needs. The final challenge for the team will be completely hands-on - building houses and accommodation for the school's teachers.
