In 1984, a scrappy little neighbourhood in San Francisco – home to many poor families and the heart of the gay male leather scene – faced destruction from the bulldozers of redevelopment and the AIDS crisis.
The Folsom Street Fair was started to call attention to the gentrification and raise money for AIDS charities.
Folsom Forever tells the story of how this little street fair grew to become the biggest outdoor kink and fetish event in the world, and managed to do a lot of good on the way.
Recon supports the world premiere screening of FOLSOM FOREVER – part of the Deep Desires & Broken Dreams season of exceptional gay cinema at Riverside Studios London.
The screening takes place on Sunday 23 February at 7pm. There will be a Q&A with the film's director, Mike Skiff, after the screening. Tickets include a free glass of wine or beer so feel free to stick around.
